STAND TALL. RISE & THRIVE.

WHO I WORK WITH

You don't just work out, you train. You need your body ready to perform -  strong, mobile, and free from injury.
My unique deep tissue release methods help your body achieve ease of movement by unblocking stuck tissues from improper movement patterns and old injuries.
You can choose to work with me one-on-one for intense work, join in one of my facilitated group classes, or check out the online training courses available. Once you know the basics of my methods, you can do a lot of the work on your own at your convenience, incorporating them into our existing recovery routines.

WHY I'M HERE

My medical training seemed incomplete. I wanted/needed something better for myself and those I work with. I believe things can always get better. The body knows how to heal itself. We just need to give it the best environment to do so.

Through my services at Unleash Active Recovery, you can get the tools and knowledge you need to unblock your body and enhance your performance.

About Dr. Zach Sweatman

I've been working with people just like you for more than 10 years, helping them overcome injury, reduce pain, and improve performance.

At Unleash Active Recovery, I offer a unique approach to healing and performance through deep tissue release techniques that help restore ease of movement. By addressing restricted tissues and faulty movement patterns, I help you unlock your body's natural ability to recover and move freely. Furthermore, through group and online classes and simple self-care tools, I provide you with what you need to take healing into your own hands and get back to doing what you love for as long as you want to do it.

You can work with me in several ways:

  • One-on-one sessions for focused, hands-on recovery
  • Facilitated group classes for guided self-work
  • Digital courses (Online Training) so you can learn and apply the methods anytime, anywhere
  • Fascia Tools (Products) to enhance your at-home recovery practice

Once you learn the basics, you’ll be equipped to do much of the work on your own and integrate it into your current recovery or training routine.

I hold a Doctorate in Athletic Training, am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), am certified in Dry Needling (Cert. DN) and an Unleash Active Recovery Facilitator. I'm also a former collegiate athlete who knows firsthand the toll intense training can take — and what it takes to come back stronger. What I do comes mostly from my experience working on my own body and my frustrations with what my education didn't teach me.

I don't want time, money, or setting to be a barrier to achieving the freedom of movement you desire. I now teach people how to optimally recover and change their bodies on their own.

Manual therapy and Myofascial release are powerful hands-on techniques that support healing, improve movement, and reduce pain. Whether you’re recovering from injury, managing chronic pain, or working to enhance your performance, these therapies can help you feel and move better.

WHAT IS

FASCIA

What Is Fascia?

Fascia is a connective tissue that weaves throughout your entire body—surrounding muscles, bones, nerves, and organs. Think of it as your body’s natural support system, helping everything move smoothly and stay in place.

There are three main types of fascia:

  • Superficial Fascia – Just beneath the skin, this layer helps with mobility and contains fat for insulation and energy.

  • Deep Fascia – Dense and fibrous, it wraps around muscles and bones, giving structure and support.

  • Visceral Fascia – Surrounds and supports your internal organs, keeping them properly aligned.

When fascia becomes tight or inflamed—often from injury, poor posture, or stress—it can lead to discomfort, reduced mobility, and even chronic pain. That’s why healthy fascia is essential for flexibility, movement, and overall well-being.

WHAT IS

DRY NEEDLING

Dry Needling: Targeted Relief for Muscle Pain and Recovery

What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling is a modern, evidence-based technique used by skilled practitioners to relieve muscle pain, reduce tension, and improve mobility. Using thin, sterile needles, the treatment works directly on tight or dysfunctional muscle tissue to encourage relaxation, increase blood flow, and promote natural healing.

Rooted in Western anatomy and physiology, dry needling is a safe and effective tool often used alongside other therapies to enhance recovery and restore movement.

How Does Dry Needling Work?

By gently inserting needles into areas of muscle tightness and stiffness, dry needling helps interrupt patterns of muscle spasm and improve circulation. This promotes muscle relaxation, reduces discomfort, and supports tissue repair—leading to better movement and decreased pain.

Who Can Benefit from Dry Needling?

Dry needling is suitable for a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Muscle pain and stiffness
  • Sports injuries and overuse conditions
  • Joint and tendon discomfort
  • Postural and movement-related issues
  • Headaches linked to muscle tension

Your practitioner will assess your specific needs and incorporate dry needling safely as part of your personalized treatment plan.
